Just in time for Christmas, Paige has a "bruised" tooth. It's from a couple weeks ago when she smacked her mouth on the dashboard. Lovely. It's supposed to go away eventually, but it takes a long time. Merry Christmas to me!

{christmas reading}

I picked up a copy of "The Grinch" at Kohl's today. Five bucks. I almost felt like I was stealing it. Anyway - I left it out, and didn't say anything to Emily. It took her all of five minutes to find it, and begin reading it to her little sister.

LOVE.

{the other side of eight}

Another year, another birthday at Red Robin. Yum.

I didn't get any notice that they were coming with the birthday song and sundae - hence the ultra blurry picture. That'll teach me to not keep the camera out and at the ready - with the appropriate settings.

Photobucket

You can't see it - but she has whipped cream in her hair.
Photobucket

And then we headed back home to complete the sugar trifecta - brownies at school, ice cream at Red Robin, and Cake at home.

The hazardous crown strikes again.

Happy Birthday to my little girl who has been doing a lot of growing up lately. A lot. Now, stop it. Love you.

{eight is great!}

Just a couple pictures of my eight year old Emily Jean.

Photobucket

Her birthday breakfast request - waffles!

Photobucket

Seat-belting Paige into her old booster car seat - Emily doesn't have to have to sit in one anymore. Kind of the end of an era. No more 5 point harness buckling for me....and with these cold temperatures....Hallelujah!!

Happy Birthday Em!!

{a study in hats}

So, after TWO "snow" days, Emily went back to school today. It was just Paige and I rambling around upstairs. It was quiet. Really quiet. I guess Emily makes lots of noise.

Even though it's FREEZING outside, it has been the most beautiful looking weather. Sunny, blue skies. Sparkly snow. So pretty to look at....from the inside of our warm house. Later this morning, the light coming in the entryway was not to be denied. So, I dug out a few props, and some M&M bribery....and took these pictures:

{this weekend}

We went to The Santa event at Emily's school. Eric and I were the photographers - so I got some very cute shots of my girls. Three hours of shooting a large amount of kids who go to Emily's school. I almost started to feel really tired about it, until I thought about Santa, and how tired he must have been. But, at the end, he was just as jolly as when he came! Now, that's a good Santa!

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY!!! It's been snowing here since very early this morning. But, it is a very WET snow. Wet snow and my camera don't mix. So the focus on a couple of these pictures is not all that great - I had to get out, get the picture, and get back in.

YAY! We LOVE snow!!

(but WET snow is just that, WET. The girls were soaking when they finished playing)

{yesterday and today}

Emily received these "fake" glasses as part of her birthday present from her good friend Jenna. She kind of LOVES them. She wears them all. the. time. With Eric's bad vision, and my not-so-great vision, she might as well get used to that.

Photobucket

I had to head out yesterday on a shopping excursion that lasted many hours - this little one came along, and was so GOOD. I love this time of year. She must know that Santa is watching...
Photobucket

Maybe not so much.
Photobucket

This morning, we received about an inch of snow. Paige could not wait to get out and check it out.
Photobucket

And throw a little of it around. (one of my favorite pictures of this year)

Have a great weekend!

{snowflakes, swimming & silly girls}

Photobucket

I have been trying to do a Christmas type craft with the girls at least twice a week. Since all my shopping is done, and the heavy duty baking is not taking place for at least another week, we have a bit of time on our hands. So, last Thursday, we made snowflakes. Lots and lots of snowflakes. And when I say "we", I mean, I folded the paper, I cut about 70% of the snowflakes, Emily cut the other 30%, Paige colored a few, and so did Emily. I also colored quite a few, and I hung them up.

Photobucket

My favorite part is the unveiling. No matter what you cut, you never quite know what you are going to get. If it weren't for my aching hands, I would have been cutting those snowflakes all night long. And, I think they look quite pretty on my door.

Photobucket

On Saturday, I tackled Emily's birthday cupcakes. Since her party was at noon on Sunday, I knew they had to get done the day before. I got the idea from Eric's sister Audrey. She posted a picture of these on her FB page. The minute I saw those rainbows, I KNEW Emily would LOVE them. And she did. Pictured below is one of the chocolate cupcakes - but I did make yellow cake cupcakes as well - but they were anything but yellow - they were RAINBOW colored. I really must take a picture of those too. And I had better hurry...there's only one left. The rainbow candy is an Airhead Extreme. And if you want to make them, please note - you must FREEZE them before putting them on the cupcake. If you don't, you will have some very sad looking rainbows.
Photobucket

The morning of her party, Eric made her some "almost" birthday pancakes. She was so excited about her party that she was ready to get dressed at 7:30am.
Photobucket

And here she is a few hours later, blowing out her candles...
Photobucket

This picture kills me. She is smiling like that because we are singing to her. Just a few short years ago, in December of 2003, she was crying hysterically as we sang her Happy Birthday. HYSTERICALLY crying. And now this. Well, actually, she's been smiling like that ever since she turned two...but it still amazes me every time. I will probably be saying this even when she turns 30.
Photobucket

That crown can be a real hazard.
Photobucket

And then came the swimming. She had a blast. My December girl finally got to have her pool party. Mind you, it was snowing outside. The windchill was making it feel like it was in the low teens outside. But it was nice and toasty by the pool....
Photobucket

Photobucket

Even this little munchkin the the pink tutu suit had a blast.
Photobucket

It was a great day. Now, if someone could tell me, what the heck happened to my weekend?

{bad booboo}

My sweet baby girl has a fat lip.

Photobucket

Ouch.
Photobucket

This morning, while we were in the car, waiting for the bus, Little Miss Curiosity got herself in a little bit of trouble.  She got in trouble for sneaking a penny out of the change holder and then inserting it into the CD player. Luckily, she didn't get it all the way in. Eric was able to extract it once we got home. While she was pouting for getting yelled at for a SECOND time - she tried to push the penny all the way in, again - she left the front seat and went to the middle seats. When she tried to come back over, she tripped and smacked her face into the change holder.

Karma?

She looks very pathetic. She also has a cut on her gum above one of her front teeth. Which, if you even touch it, it starts to bleed, and covers her front teeth with blood. NICE. Luckily, I already took our Christmas pictures.

{oh, for cute}

It's no surprise, seeing as how the camera is in her face all the time, that she would be most interested in using the "BIG" camera to take a few shots of her own.

Here's the one I took:

And the one she took:

Then, things just got silly.
Photobucket

And pretty.
Photobucket

And more silly a couple days later.
Photobucket

The tradition of finger hats continues....
Photobucket

And that's all I have for today. happy Wednesday.
