And she's off.....

Right there inside that school bus.  She's off to Kindergarten.  Already...or as Emily sees it - It's about time!

It was a rough morning.  I don't think that the gods were on our side when our area was chosen for afternoon Kindergarten.  Emily was up early, ready for the day.  She asked me at 9:30 this morning if she could eat lunch - thinking that she was to catch the bus after lunch....so let's eat now!

When the time finally came, we were out the door and headed in the hot afternoon sun to the bus stop.  I had all of her school supplies in her backpack, so it was a little heavy, and she was complaining about it a bit.  We got to the corner about ten minutes before the scheduled arrival time - and that wait seemed like forever to my cute little girl.  She met the other little girl - Lena - and they compared backpacks, snacks, etc...and then the bus came.  Emily was so excited she went running for it without her backpack, not even turning to say good bye or anything.  I had to call her back, give her a kiss, and off she went to grow up and come home a high schooler......at least that's how I feel.

Annoyingly turning around so that we could get a picture.......

The following are from this morning, before lunch...in case of any mishaps.

And yes - I did the whole apple thing on purpose.  Could not resist wearing apples on the first day of Kindergarten.  I even have scrapbook paper to match.

BUT, the shoes are my most favorite part.  Specially ordered from Target.  I took a risk that they would not fit, but they were perfect.

She will be home in two hours.  I can't wait to find out how the whole thing went.  I will post an update later.

**ETA:  She did great.  A few tears on the bus going home because she thought she was on the wrong bus.  But the bus driver assured her that she was on the correct bus.  Other than that, she had a wonderful time, and can't wait to go back tomorrow.

Today was Emily's first time on a school bus. Now she has ridden in a school bus, a regular bus, a train, a boat, car, an airplane, and a horse drawn carriage. She has already asked me for a ride in a helicopter. Hmm...school bus=free, helicopter=$600 per hour. We'll work on that one.
