Teeth and stuff

We have been busy. But, here's the thing....I don't know what we have been busy doing. All I know is that it is now 10:30pm on Sunday night, and I am seriously wondering where my weekend has gone. I know that I did get my haircut Friday afternoon, and after that, everything is fuzzy.
The BIG news around here is that Paige is getting a tooth. Bottom left, to be exact. Eric says that we can now officially say that Paige is teething. Not really a surprise though - she has been drooling buckets. She has been napping pretty good, and sleeping pretty good at night, too. I am hoping that this stays the trend for awhile.

Here are the photos from the past few days - I have been very good and taking at least one picture everyday.

See the drool?

See Paige's whole shirt is covered in drool??

Emily and all her new Doggies: Wow, Sally, Libby, Rosebud and Pretty

Emily and some of her older doggies: Strawberry, Grace, Ashton and Polka Dot

Okay, so I know you can't see it, but it's there....trust me. Paige was not exactly a willing participant for a photo.

See - got my haircut. It looked so much better when I got back from the salon.

I love sweet potatoes.

Daily Pictures

The new thing in Scrapbooking is to take a daily photo. I have been pretty good with this so far this year...I think I have only missed a couple days. I could just throw in some extra here and there and no one would be the wiser....just me and my hard drive. Gotta love digital photography!! Here are today's photos:

I am so in need of a haircut - so much that while editing this photo for the blog, I called my hair salon and have and appointment for 2:30pm tomorrow. I am going to have to hold back getting it all cut off, although I am so tempted because Paige loves nothing more than to grab and pull a handful of my hair. I think it's her subtle way of say, "Mom, gets this mop cut!!"

Also, in case you were wondering - flower barette courtest of etsy.com (ellabella designs). I got her some more headbands and a pink and green flower barette as well. They stay in her hair for at least an hour.

On a clear day...

You can play video games forever. Actually this was from last night. Don't worry, I think LeapFrog is coming out with a Leapster for infants - or Paige could just borrow my DS. Get 'em started early, I say. Emily got two new games at Toys R Us yesterday with some leftover birthday money - Thomas the Tank Engine and Clifford. Eric is now addicted to Brain Age 2 for my DS. Yes, it's my DS. I had to practically pry it out of his hands last night so I could play a little before I went to bed. Emily took her Leapster with her this morning in the car. We will be needing a 12 step program later.......

This is the sky today. Looks like a painting. The warmth that we have had the past few days is now gone. I can't believe it was in the 60's. It usually doesn't get above 40 degrees here in January. But, I do have to say, it looks like Spring around here. No, there are not any flowers growing anywhere, but the lawns are all green, and the sun is shining. Good day to be alive. Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Emily goes back to school

Said to me this past weekend when I was in Paige's room changing a diaper: "Mom, your husband is crazy." (How observant - Gold star for you Honey!)

Said to me today, while driving home from school: "Mom, this is absolute nonsense." I don't remember what she was referring to - I am embarrassed to say, I wasn't really listening to her. Mother of the Year, right?

Said to me today while eating lunch: "If you want to buy M&M's, you have to go to M&Ms.com." File that one under things you never heard me say when I was five. And - how the heck does she know that? Dang Nick Jr.

If I don't write these things down, I will forget them forever.

She, in case you were wondering, had a great day at school. In fact, I am absolutely convinced that they fed them endless amounts of sugar while she was there - she was bouncing off the walls on the way home. She even forgot her cardinal rule of not disclosing anything that goes on behind the classroom doors, and told me that she learned how to spell and write "moon" and "monkey" (I was listening to some of it). She also said (and I should add this to the above list), that Kevin was a "spaz" at circle today. I love that one. I use that word all the time. Is it a bad word? It's just short for spastic - which is not a mean thing to call someone if they cannot sit still or control themselves, right?

This got me thinking. Why are bad words bad? I often use replacement words in place of the real thing as not to expose my children to the harsh realities of the "f" word. But doesn't that make the replacement just as bad? I often use Mother Fletcher instead of the obvious other phrase that sounds a lot like it....is it the same thing? I was just wondering. It's Monday. I have to slow down.

Feet Time

So, here's something that I never really thought about when we lived in Florida....Emily had bare feet most of her infant life. It's not that we didn't try to put socks on her - but you know those silly socks always managed to fall off - and since the temperature never really fell below 70 degrees...who needed them? Emily was always grabbing at them, shoving them in her mouth, having real quantity feet time. Well, flash forward a few years, a few states north, and a new kid. Paige does not really know her feet. She knows that there's something at the end of her legs, but they are always covered with socks and shoes (gotta keep those socks on), so they are really not that interesting. A couple weeks ago in the bathtub Paige really discovered her feet. She was so delighted with this new discovery. She was also sad when just a few minutes after her bath I covered them up again - it was a chilly 9 degrees that night. So, for the happiness of my dear daughter, I have invoked "Feet Time". For a half hour to an hour everyday, I take off the shoes, peel off the socks, and let Paige go nuts with her feet. She loves it - as do I. I miss those cute little baby piggies. Poor thing. Of course, I am sure that I am mortifying some old ladies - you know how they don't like to see babies without bonnets or booties....but I say, "Let them eat FEET".
Emily drew this snowman yesterday and then in true scrapbooking fashion, embellished it with some leftover buttons I gave her. Gotta love that. Speaking of snowpeople, I thought that I would let you know that our snow chick (see post from a couple days ago) is no more. She lost her head this morning. I was going to take a picture, but I thought it was too graphic for this blog. Amazingly enough, she has also lost her triple D's (Eric is so sad). I guess the spike into the 50's that we had today was too much for her. Rest in peace Snow Chick, rest in peace.

Paige dressed as "Little Red Riding Hood."

Have a great Monday everyone - it's back to school here in our house. So, looking forward to dragging Emily out of bed at 7am. Yea!

Just another day in Paradise

I have been feeling a little down the past few days. I don't think it's that seasonal thing, or that I am sad that Christmas is finally over - just ask Emily, my new favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. Whatever the matter be, someone must have known because I got something to smile about tonight - a beautiful sunset. By the way - I don't think those are actually clouds in the sky - it's probably smoke from the much overworked chimneys during this really cold snap. We woke up to single digits this morning. Brrr. Big Birrrrrr.
In other news, Paige is REALLY into her toys these days. Her new favorites are a piano, this Woozit thing, a pink puppy that sings the ABC's, and her chain link rings. Of course, whatever she can get in her mouth is also exciting too. We are going through burp cloths like crazy as she in just drenching them in a matter of minutes. She has also decided again that sleeping at night is overrated - she kept us up from 11:30pm until almost 2am.

Emily is having a great Winter Break. She is enjoying all this time off of school and has been playing with all her new, and some old, toys. She also does not like to get dressed until almost lunch - and even then I have to practically force her. She even refuses to eat breakfast before 9:30am. Oh boy, I am going to have a time of it next week when she goes back to school. We painted her fingernails today - and I think there's still some paint left on at least 5 of them. That's a pretty good record for my spastic child.

More Snow

Happy 2008! (and yes, our snow chick has boobs....no arms, just boobs. What can I say, Eric made her.)
