apples to bed

Today was our annual trip - although, some years we do go more than once - to Blake's Apple Orchard and Cider Mill. We, my Mom included, were joined by the Marcikic clan - Aunt T, Uncle Denny, Kelly, Ryan, Julie, and Emerson. Fun, apples, donuts, fritters and cider were had by all.



Paige and Emerson had the best time together - so sweet.

And next time - would someone PLEASE tell me to remove my sunglasses when someone is taking a family photo. This one was by far the best of the three - we may need a re-take.





I love this one - I wish Emily was making a better face - but it's still one of my favorites.
The girls all scrubbed up and ready for bed - they are watching our family slideshows on DVD. They have had quite the busy weekend - playing with friends, sleeping over at Grandma's house last night, apple picking, more playing friends today....hopefully they are already sleeping.

BTW: Our team won the Ojibwa Road Rally last night. Along with prize money, we also get to run and plan next year's rally. Eric already has a plan going. Are ya surprised??? More about the rally in a later post.

so it's Friday....

It's been one hack of a week. The Tiger's ended their crazy season on Tuesday with a loss to the Twins, it has gone from summer to winter in one day, the sun has been totally elusive, Emily managed to do two classes in one afternoon - swim and dance - and Paige still runs whenever I bring out the camera.

And now it's Friday. YEA!!!

I have a confession - I have been so jonesing for pictures of my littlest girl that I actually threatened her with punishment - time out - if she didn't oblige me. Is that bad? Well, desperate times call for desperate measures......

She was having a cute day - but refused to give me one second for one decent picture. She would not sit still. It kills me.

october frost

As I was getting these pictures ready for a blog post this morning, I had to laugh at the shear contrast of what is on my memory card from the past month. I was scrolling down the contents looking for the pictures I took this morning - of the frost and the girls wearing their winter gear - and I saw beach pictures, water balloon fights - both featuring my sweet children in their swim suits. Crazy to think that just a few weeks ago we were reaching for flip flops, and now we are reaching for mittens. That is so Michigan.

So again, not the best picture, but I swear there is a pretty good layer of the freezing cold stuff on the grass this morning.

The girls in their GEAR. Emily does have a new jacket this year - this is last year's jacket - but it's for MUCH colder weather. Although, she did want to wear it this morning. I thought a really heavy jacket with a faux fur lined hood would be a bit much.


We like to run home from the bus stop. You can see the frosty grass there right?

Picking leaves has now become part of our morning routine. We have tons - so if you are reading this Mary-Frances or Sheila, expect a large package of leaves coming your way very soon. I am nearly running out of books to keep them flat!

Side note on this particular leaf - when I was drying it off to place it in the book this morning - a BIG, green SPIDER that was the exact same shade as the leaf crawled off right on to my hand - AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! Paige really knows how to pick the good ones. :)

the hat

Well, Autumn is officially here. It's been a bit chilly the last few days. Clothing price tags are flying all over the place each morning. And a much loved pink hat has come out of cold weather storage. I forgot how much I love this hat. I may have to get Paige a few more - in other colors, and maybe even one for Emily. I got this one on etsy.

And I can't remember if I mentioned this before - but those red shoes belonged to Emily. We found them while going through Emily's three year old clothing box. They already fit Paige - at two!! And they are her very favorite. She likes to wear them all the time - and the best part - she can put them on ALL BY HERSELF!!!!!
