{halloween 2013}

It was WET. And WINDY. And I am just happy to have been able to take these few pictures. Paige wore this costume for ONE street, and then she was soaked. We stopped by our house to trade it for another dry costume - the pumpkin. And then she didn't last much longer. Apparently, her threshold for wet feet is LOW.

Emily made it the whole way. She was quite a trooper. Earlier, she walked the hallways of her elementary school in a Halloween costume for the last time today. Sniff. And I LOVE that she wanted to be a present just like I was at her age.

Hope your Halloween was GREAT!

{august 2013}

I'm trying so hard to update this blog on a regular basis...and i guess i am kinda fired...but before you go...here's August 2013. Still love me?

August was kind of a crappy month. Lots of days where it was cloudy and COLD. Lots of beach days thwarted. Lots of sitting around and wondering where our summer went....but we did to do a few fun things....we did get to make a visit to George George Park.

And we jumped on a trampoline full of water balloons....

And got to go to Aunt Joan's farm...and played some batball...

Ultimate frisbee....

enjoyed a campfire...not just for looks...but also for warmth...

and roasted marshmallows....

And ate S'MORES!

We checked out the Woodward dream cruise from the back of our Minivan...

Enjoyed chocolate ice cream mustaches....

Cooked breakfast with daddy...

Looked CUTE while crafting.

Practiced softball...

enjoyed ONE last dip in the pool...

And we made one LAST trip to the beach (Lake Huron)....

And of course, we acted very, very SILLY.
Next up....SEPTEMBER.

{first day of school 2013}

Things went surprisingly smooth this morning. No one was too grouchy waking up WAY earlier than they have been these last few months. Everyone ate their breakfast, brushed their teeth, got dressed, got backpacks loaded up and got to the bus stop on time without me ONCE having to remind to do any of that. It was a CHRISTMAS miracle a few months early. And in case you were wondering:
Paige is in FIRST grade and Emily is in FIFTH grade. Their last time together in the same school. No more first day pictures together - Paige is a late sleeper, and most likely will not be awake when Emily leaves for middle school next September. :(

Can I just say that I seriously had visions this morning when I went to wake up this sweet girl, of last year's first day of school. You know, the one that Paige did not attend because of her antibiotic allergy she decided to have the first morning of kindergarten??!! Thankfully, she woke up and looked perfect. PHEW!!!

Emily is a safety this year - hence the bright yellow safety belt she is sporting. She was very excited to help out all the little people find their way to their classes this morning.

Emily, Paige and Nina at the bus stop this morning. Emily has known Nina since they were teeny, tiny little kindergarteners. They met on the first day of school - at this very bus stop, and have been great friends ever since. Fifth graders....wow. It goes by SO FAST.
Hope they had a great first day! (I did see them at school later this morning while I was there doing some PTO stuff - they both were smiling, so I guess that's a good sign)

{six}

Paige Elizabeth Gottlieb at SIX. First let me just say that it shocks me DAILY that she is going to be a first grader in a matter of weeks. But she is. And boy is she ready. This girl -she's a whole lotta spice and sugar packed in a teeny little body.

Her favorite things are - in no particular order - her big sister, stuffed animals, art supplies, wearing dresses, watching YouTube videos on my iPhone, iCarly, SpongeBob Squarepants, wearing flip-flops, dancing, American Girl dolls and books.

She still is a very stubborn child. She will NOT do something until she is good and ready to do it. But when she decides she wants to do something - WATCH OUT. This characteristic served her well for learning to ride a bike this summer. No matter how many times she fell, or threw a tantrum about falling, she did not give up.

She is very much into wanting to be JUST LIKE EMILY. I really don't think she understands that she's only six.

She is one of the most affectionate kids I know. She never refuses a kiss or a hug from me. It's one of my favorite things about her.

She has a brand new freckle on the right side of her nose. I like to call it Alexandra - but she won't let me. She likes to name EVERYTHING. But again, SHE has to do it. No one else.

She is an AMAZING little girl. She makes us all laugh. She makes us smile. She also makes me wonder how we are going to handle all this once she becomes a teenager....

She is quite the little artist. Since my artistic ability is pretty much limited to photography - unless you count stick figures as art - her ability to draw with the precision and detail that she does, amazes me.
Even her handwriting is artistic. And the way she grips a pencil - well, she's going to cause her first grade teacher a lot of grief. But her handwriting is so good....how can you make her change. And BTW - yeah, she has no plans to change. (see above paragraph regarding her stubbornness)

Happy SIX years Paigey.

We love you more and more each day.
