Thanksgiving Play

Emily's Thanksgiving Play and Feast was yesterday. It was totally adorable - and my girl - Narrator #2 - totally ROCKED her three lines.

This is what she had to say about it:

When I got to the classroom, she was seated with her class in the front of the room. Then they all left and the play began.
These two came back in and delivered their lines with EXPERTISE. :) Then the pilgrims came, met the Indians and decided to get together and have a FEAST.

(I have TONS more photos...but they don't have Emily in them, and do you really need to see them??)
Sitting at the "feast".
Singing a Thanksgiving song with her buddies.
Then we had the real feast - Mickey Mouse chicken nuggets, tater tots, corn, sweet potatoes, stuffing, rolls, ham, turkey, cookies, pie, and CHOCOLATE eclairs. Delish.

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving - and hope your feasts are as good as the above....because no Thanksgiving feast would be complete without Mickey chicken. ;)

sorry for the interruption....

I was not really intending on taking a blog break, but has just happened like that. We have had so much sickness around here - and then the minute everyone got better, we are off and running again.

Some pictures from the past week:

Paige reading bedtime stories to her babies.

Storytime at the North Branch library. There's LOTS of dancing at this storytime, and she LOVES it.

Making fake phone calls on my old cell phone.

Emily went to a Lego building contest at the library on Saturday - and she WON!! They had to build an amazing toy. So she built this car thing. She was so surprised when they called her name. And so were we. She won a little Lego kit. I am so very proud of her!!

Made the infamous rolls for Thanksgiving on Sunday. They didn't turn out, so I had to re-make them with my Mom yesterday. I guess I rolled the dough out too thin, and they didn't rise enough. Oh well.

Eric put out the rest of the OUTSIDE Christmas decor on Sunday.
Emily had to make an Indian vest for her Thanksgiving play at school today. We had no time all weekend long, so Eric and Emily ended up making it on Sunday night - total last minute.

Rolls from yesterday. This is what there supposed to look like when they are finished. Mine were half that size, and weighed twice as much. We also made Peerogs - the ones with bacon inside - as well. I am EXHAUSTED.

Our house all lit up.
Have a GREAT Thanksgiving everyone!!

it rhymes with who...

This is my Paige this morning. She woke up with a low-grade fever. Another flu victim. That makes three for this house. Luckily, Eric is better, Emily is too. Now it's Paige's turn. Poor baby. She wanted to run and play so very much. Hopefully, she'll be a little better tomorrow. She does have her magic wand!

Yes, I know it's only November 15th - but around here, when you get a November day with temperatures around fifty degrees, you take advantage. You put up your Christmas lights. We were not the only ones. In fact, most people already had theirs up - we had a beautiful week - but we had a house full of the flu.

Friday - playing outside with the girls while Daddy slept off the flu inside.

Again - wishing for a week of wellness.

walking to the bus stop

Usually, Eric walks to the bus stop in the afternoons to pick up Emily - but yesterday, Paige and I went. Eric is not feeling all that awesome, and I was MORE than HAPPY to get out of the house for a few minutes.

It has been quite a week around here. Emily has been sick with the flu since Sunday - but well enough to go to school yesterday but not today, Eric is now sick with the flu, and I am not feeling quite one hundred percent. We have gone through two boxes of tissue, almost two boxes of Advil Cold and Sinus medication, one bottle of Delsyum, tons of green tea, tons of hand sanitizer, and Lysol wipes.

Needless to say, I am SICK of SICK.

Blue skies, fifty-two degrees and SUNSHINE...SIGN ME UP!!! Add the little one in the stripey tights and you have the perfect walk to the bus stop.

AND - The pouty face makes another appearance.

Have a GREAT weekend! Let's just hope ours is all about WELLNESS!!

the pouty face

Thought you would enjoy a video today featuring Paige's POUTY face. Even though I enjoy her smile so much more, the POUTY face is always good for a laugh.

feeling better...or not

For the moment, no one in our house has a fever. I am not counting it completely out though....you know how that goes.

Poor Emily came down with the flu on Sunday afternoon. She was outside, playing and enjoying some of the sixty degree weather we had been blessed with this past weekend. When she came in, she said she was feeling tired, and wanted to rest. This not being typical Emily behavior, I immediately took her temperature - 99.9. She refused lunch - but then ate it later. She initially didn't want dinner, but then ate that too. She went to bed - still feverish, but able to fall asleep almost immediately. She woke up at 2am, and, I don't want to go into too much detail, but let's just say she was doing that thing that rhymes with romitting. :)

The romitting lasted until 8am, and was gone. Her fever persisted throughout the day - but she was able to eat a couple things, and drink as well.

After a good nights sleep - she is as good as new. No fever so far today. Excited about going back to school. In fact, her first concern was that she was going to be well enough to go tomorrow - being gym day and all. She LOVES her gym teacher - Mr. Newvine (the purple Telletubby from Halloween). And she was also very concerned about her library book being overdue if she wasn't going to school on Wednesday. That's my little rule follower.

****ETA**** Tuesday evening: Fever is back, and the dry cough is relentless. She will be staying home on Wednesday as well....and Thursday is not looking so good either....... and because they played together all morning long, I am basically just waiting for Paige's symptoms to begin. Oh, I LOVE flu season.

Still have my very clean, antibacterial fingers crossed that this one will make it through this week without getting the flu as well. She starts up story time again on Thursday, and will be CRUSHED if she cannot go.

They are both so very happy to be able to play together again. It was very hard to keep them apart on Sunday and Monday.

Hopefully we have a healthier rest of the week!!

the difference between boys and girls

Sometimes you only need to look at a coffee mug - or tea mug in this case - to see the difference between boys and girls.

Behold - this is my mug:

AND, this is Eric's mug:

Very different indeed.

halloween 2009

Halloween 2009 was a success!! I measure this not by how much candy we collect, but by how many shoes, hats, gloves and jackets we end up with by the end of the night - see last year. We arrived home with everything that we brought on our trick-or-treating journey, and then some!! The people that live around here are extremely generous, and we now have more candy than we can eat in a year. I say this now, and by next week, it will probably be half gone!

The before trick or treating pictures. As you can see, NO ONE wants to look at the camera. It's still a cute shot, I think...

She looks so irritated doesn't she?

Finally, a smile!!
This is pretty much the last picture of the night. Paige was so DETERMINED to keep up with the big kids, that she pretty much ran at full speed the whole night. Two hours of trick-or-treating, and we had to bribe her with potato chips so that she would sit in the wagon, and give her old Mom a rest!!! So this means that I have no pictures of the actual trick or treating. Oh well.

Emily's crown stayed on the whole night, thanks to some bobby pins and engineering by our neighbors.

Had to include this one - the girls watching "The Tigger Movie" yesterday afternoon - snuggled up together on the couch. Cute right??
Happy November!!
