Nursery Rhyme Show

Emily's Kindergarten class had it's first performance this afternoon.  They, the adorable group that they are, sang a bunch of nursery rhymes to a crowd of adoring parents.  It was very cute. They did so well.  No major mishaps - unless you count singing way ahead of the music.  Emily even got to stand in the front row - she's the one with the green dress all the way on the left.

It's a big week for her.  She has her very first field trip on Friday - to our most favorite apple orchard - Blakes.  I am so sad that I don't get to go - I had thought that my Mom was not going to be able to watch Paige, but now she is, and it's too late.  Oh well.  Next time. Apparently they go on lots of field trips.

Chores

Last week I was doing a clean out of the pantry.  We have this HUGE pantry, which is great, except for the fact that things just get thrown in there, and can be lost for months, even years. Which is exactly what happened to Emily's Leapfrog Alphabet fridge magnet thingy - highly technical term. I found it in a Publix bag no less.  Which means that it has been in there, crammed in the back since we moved here. Alas, there is no Publix here in Michigan. A fact that makes me very sad every time I walk into gross, smelly, disorganized Kroger.

Why am I telling you all this?  Because since I took it out, and placed all the letters and the letter speaker thingy on our back door - our fridge is not able to have magnets - we have been missing the letter "Y" and "R".  I thought that maybe we had left them in our other house.  I was wrong.

While doing laundry this morning I found them.  In the washing machine.  They must have been placed there by little hands that must belong to Paige.  They even went through a cycle.  They were stuck on the side of the drum.  I thought it was pretty funny.  Paige, my little cute, adorable, trouble maker.

Oops - someone forgot to bless us and keep us away from witches.......

Emily's Halloween costume is done. A month ahead of schedule.  This is the hat. I would show you a picture of it, but that would be so very wrong. You will just have to wait until Halloween like everyone else - insert evil witch laugh here.

And Honey, I love you no matter how dorky you look in those roller blades.

End of the Week

Emily had her "Walk for FUNds" today at her school.  The whole school, in groups, walked across the street to the track at the middle school to walk, or run, laps for a fundraiser.  Emily completed twelve laps - so Eric and I are both giving up twelve dollars..we pledged one dollar per lap.

When she got off the bus she was wearing this shirt - a gift from the PTO.  It's a little big - but very cute.  They are going to be wearing it on all of their field trips - a very good idea!  She has a field trip to Blake's Apple Orchard next week.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Welcome Autumn

It is as if they know - those trees.  A couple of weeks ago there was just one lonely red leaf.  It only hung around for a few hours.  Maybe the tree as a whole was just not ready yet, so it sent the lone red leaf packing.  This morning, a whole patch of red is breaking out.

It's my most favorite time of year.  I love the vibrant colors that paint the town in September and October.  The cider mills are open, the apple trees are full, pumpkin patches are filled with bright orange pumpkins, and jeans and jackets come out of hiding.  It's a big celebration of all living things before the deadness of winter...but we won't think of that yet, right?

Emily and Paige doing their morning thing.  Emily is really into coloring and drawing right now.  Her desk/table is always a mess of little pieces of paper, markers, crayons, glue sticks, etc...Sounds like we may just have another scrapbooker in our midst.

Paige is trapped upstairs right now - she went upstairs and shut the gate.  Unfortunately, she is on the wrong side, and is not very happy about it.  I better go get her, right?

And Happy Birthday Mom!

Monday Photos

Just another exciting day around here.
A healthy way to start the day.  You are what you eat, right?
Actually, this is from last week, after school.  A nutritious snack.
A new snowsuit - thanks Aunt Ingrid.  I think she looks like a sumo wrestler.  It is an 18 mos., and it's pretty big on her.  The pants kept slipping down, and she was slip sliding all over the place.  She needs some snow boots don't you think?

And she's off AGAIN!

That's my girl riding her bike all by herself.  She's doing so well that Eric had to don his ultra cool roller blades in order to keep up with her.  It only took her a month - but to be fair, she hasn't really been practicing much.  She has been out with her Dad a couple times this week - and she's pretty much got the hang of it.  She can turn corners and stop all by herself, but she can't really get going all by herself.  I am sure that will come with time.  Go Emily Go!!

It has been just beautiful this week - seventies, sunny and clear.  There's a slight crispiness in the air...you can almost taste the apple cider and donuts.  YUM.  I am thinking that a trip to the cider mill is in order very soon.  Have a GREAT weekend!

Pigtails for Paige

I decided that I would try to give Paige little pigtails this morning.  She actually kind of let me.  I was as surprised as you.  I figure, I should really start doing her hair so that she gets used to it.  Let's see how long they actually stay in.

We had a very rainy weekend - flood watches, and even tornadoes in Livonia and Plymouth (west of here).  One of the roads right by our house was severely flooded when the river next to it overflowed its banks.  I am not complaining however.  My heart goes out to those in Texas who lost everything this past weekend due to Hurricane Ike.  Seeing all that destruction is just sad and unbelievable.  And makes me very grateful that I don't have to worry about all that anymore.

Friday Cutie

Just a little cutie for your Friday.  Her new word is "No", and she knows how to use it.  When I went to take her ABC doggie away from her to change the batteries, she screamed, "NO!"

When Emily left on the bus yesterday morning to go to school, she said sadly, "noooooo."  It was very cute.

Have a great weekend - and a Happy Birthday to my FIL Jerry!!

Welcome to School in 2008

First things first - my girls got some very cool shoes yesterday.  I went to the shoe store to get Paige some sneakers, but I could not resist these for Emily...and they were on sale as well.  Double goodness!  I wanted to know if they came in my size.

And these are Paige's new kicks - she slowed down for one second so I could take this picture of ONE shoe.
And just so you know - she does, in fact, share with Max.  She was gladly sharing her morning snack of Cheerios with a camped out doggy.

When Emily got off the bus today she had label sticker on the front of her shirt (see inset picture).  It's a reminder for the parents about Curriculum Night this evening.  Remember when we used to go home with notes pinned to the front of our shirts?  This is a MUCH better invention.  Much less painful.

Layout Wednesday part 2

Finally worked - here are the rest.  Gotta go get Emily!!

It's Layout Wednesday

I am having a heck of a time uploading layouts today.  Blogger is just not being my friend. So here are a few - these date back to last November and December.  I have some really good ones that I will try and post later.  You can click on any one of them to make bigger so you can read the journaling.  TFL!!
